The key part of this proposal is that you
1. Recognize that IN ADDITION to CIC fields superceding IIM fields, CIC
ALSO adds some fields for MRP planning THAT HAVE NO COUNTERPART in IIM,
that give companies that do planning by facility some options not available
to companies that do it globally.
2. Seek to educate yourself about the function of those fields to see if
any of them are relevant to your challenges, justifying a global reality
going BY FACILITY with only one facility, to get the advantage of those
extra MRP fields.

I will have to pass on specifics later, since I not at the 400, and when I
get there, I extremely busy.

Interesting idea Al. How do you see that the CIC fields would benefit me?

My understanding of the CIC fields is that they supercede what is in the
item master. Will they actually make the system calculate the Shop order Due
Date differently if I create a CIC record for the End Item with a day of
lead time?

Thanks everyone for their responses! It's been much appreciated!

I am running out of ideas to suggest to you that have not already been
suggested, or that you not like.

Another idea, and I expect you will not like this one either.

Do your company by facility, only have one facility, so you can get the
benefit of CIC fields.
A bit of work to do with various other files to convert over to that
reality.
