Client Access Express provides an option on the configuration screen to
give the session a specific workstation id. This can be done when you
first set up Client Access or can be done after the fact with the
Communication/Configure pull-down menu option in Client Access.

I would appreciate any information about how to make the AS/400 assign
specific addresses to attached PCs.

Check your work station addresses to make sure you do not have two
people
with something like QDEV00000 some address that is in violation of the
mixed
mode rules. You can get at this with DSPJOB focused on recent sessions
with
such addresses. We have some rules for attaching work stations so that
they
have unique addresses in the first 6-7 characters because BPCS strips
off
the
last 1-2 characters for keeping track of work areas by application.

But sometimes people, who are not familiar with all the rules, try to
connect
a PC to the 400 network, and we end up with PC & 400 & other defaults
not
being over-ridden.

So then you have two or more people whose work station addresses as far
as
BPCS is concerned is the same work area. Garbage in Garbage out.
