Title: RE: AS/Set

A question to Kari at SSA:
Are you saying AS/SET V8 can't be use with a older version of AS/SET Repository?

I have not worked on V8 yet but I don't see why AS/SET V8 couldn't be use by it self or with older BPCS version. I've been working with AS/SET since BPCS V5.X through V6.1.01. Older version of AS/SET code can always be used on the newer one, long as the AS/SET Repository is in sink.

The AS/SET is a code generator. This means it can be use as a stand along product. There are few software vendors out there who use AS/SET to generate objects for AS/400.

Thanks,
Sonny

Don,

I can not recall if someone else has answered this already, but in was in my
follow up folder, so I will tell you what I know.  BPCS V8 is ILE/RPG and was
generated from AS/SET V8.   The generator was changed to produce native ILE
code.  AS/SET V8 will only work with BPCS V8 as the AS/SET version is dependant
on the BPCS version.

I hope this helps, and I apologize if it is a duplicate response.

Kari

What is the current version of AS/Set? Is this the AS/set version that
creates RPGILE? Does anyone know if the new version of AS/set can be brought
without upgrading to the BPCS 8.0 version or do you need to upgrade to BPCS
8.0 also to use it?

Thanks in Advance,
Don
