  • Subject: Fwd: Help w/ AS/400 power crash

Well perhaps you want to look into this for the future ... my manual on this
topic (actually a few pages in a larger manual) is at the office, so I may
post some more specifics to you later in this thread, or perhaps it will
become the name of a particular message queue (was 400 power crash).

The deal is that there are some OPTIONAL message queues that are not well
documented. You have to know about them & set them up. If they exist on
your AS/400, then OS/400 will send certain types of traffic to them, that is
exceedingly helpful in diagnosing certain types of problems.

After how Y"all were so helpful with stuff I need, it is good that I can
repay you in some small way.

No such animal. I presume you meant the QSYSOPR or *SYSOPR message queue.
Because this message queue gets cleared at IPL, and wraps/truncates at a
certain size, and can be cleared at will, you're not guaranteed to find
critical information there.

Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
(Whatever is said in Latin seems profound.)

I forgot about this ... the volume there should be much less than DSPLOG &
more focused on what you need to be seeing.
