I am looking at the 2000 Buyer's Guide issue of Midrange ERP Magazine (June
2000) as I compose this reply. The magazine has since changed its name to
www.MidrangeEnterprise.com - I believe we get this for free to qualified ERP
people thanks to the advertisers paying for publication. There are also
arrangements to get at reprints of past articles. Check with PENTON
Publishing 216-931-9607 or search the web for penton.com (I do not have their
URL handy).

They do an approximately annual update on ERP for the midsized manufacturing
market ... what features are included in which ERP, challenges for the
overall market, market share by vendor, which midrange platforms they run on
(AS/400, Unix, NT) connect to which data base standards (DB/2, SQL, Oracle,
Sybase). I imagine that in years future we will be seeing Linux & other Open
Source alternatives in this chart.

There are also secondary charts of consultants serving which ERP markets,
which ERP best for which vertical markets, humongous directiories of vendors.
This thing is 75 pages of color coded charts. You really ought to get the
original, since it is free from the publisher, assuming they still have any
in stock.
