We are not using any of this, so my pointers are merely to places where you
can find other vendors.

A recurring theme in the general AS/400 & Client Access forums on Midrange
dot com, and the various trade press places like www.AS400network.com, are
various ways to get AS/400 files & spool files to various PC formats, and
there is a lot of shareware, freeware, lowcostware out there to do that, but
most of it is to e-mail, spreadsheet, word processing applications, not so
much is to graphics or images.

But then there is the issue of getting the image back so that AS/400 users
can access the original pictures, or cross-index know what images exist ...
like do we have this item # in a blue print, is there any report on QC
problems history with this item #. If the information is stored on a juke
box of CD Roms, can more than one user on the network be accessing the same
CD Rom at same time, or is the image uploaded to temporary AS/400 space while
being used, so one user looking at one image does not bottleneck the system
for other users?

Is it practical to use the elcheapoware to get AS/400 stuff to PC then bring
it back to the elgreato image system?

URLs ...
get to IBM.COM & check out links to STORAGE systems.
get to AS400network.com & select community Client Connectivity & check
downloads
go to www.tsmug.com LINKS to Kent Anderson / Software Aps / e-forms &
utilities

You might also look at the lowcostware to get AS/400 data to CD Rom & index
your archives off-line. While researching this stuff it is also useful to
locate which of these packages are already BPCS-friendly, like:
DcExChange transfers BPCS data to web site;
IronWorks connects BPCS to e-commerce but the pricing seems a bit steep;
KISCO's Blue CD has a PC writing CD Roms that can be read by AS/400 & BUG
BUSTERS has a similar offering;
LANSA Smart Web works on all major versions of BPCS for web access to BPCS
programs;
NEXGEN has an e-BPCS package;
SEAGULL has JWalk to connect BPCS to the web;
SSA relabeled BPCS as e-BPCS but I am not convinced it is really e-commerce;
TRADE PAQ claims e-BPCS enabling without needing to add any programming;

of course the stuff that is any 400 report or file to any PC application does
not need to be BPCS-friendly

There was an article in Industry Week about Graphical Performance Series
software package from Vangard Solutions Group in which it extracts any ERP
data into any graphical format for any connected employee. But more useful I
think is the series in Woody's Windows Office Watch that once you get the 400
data to PC, color code it in spread sheet based on threshholds so as to
illuminate the exceptions.
