Ian,
forgive me for pointing this out but did you not post an inquiry onto
BPCS-L some weeks ago, asking for anyone with BPCS V4.05CD that was willing
to let you test some 'Customer-Relations' software on their box (and for
exchange give away free training in the product). Because if you are, how
d'you propose to write a source analysis tool when you have no source?
However, if you now have access to source, I would be interested in a copy
but anticipate the resulting document being fairly large (unless you are
distributing the tool but that would imply that we would need the BPCS
source to use it) - how d'you proprose distribution? Also, what version
source d'you have and if the source is ASSETised how d'you expect to
distinguish between fields actually updated within a program and fields
simply loaded into a data-structure for the file-rec but not being
manipulated by the program (as the ASSET GETREC might load the whole
file-rec into a data-structure regardless of which field it is going to
use)?
If you are just doing a DSPPGMREF over your LIBL, to an OUTFILE and
then sorting which objects reference which and for what purpose
(input/update/output etc..) then maybe I am diging a little deep - please
can you advise what level of detail the source analysis will show.

Cheers.

  ½ day

  Overview:

This course provides a good foundation for clients who want to use
Business
Intelligence Tools such as Cognos to efficiently extract data from BPCS
  database.

This seminar explains the architecture of BPCS. Its purpose is to detail
the
philosophy of the designs and standards of the products. BPCS is not
just a
software product, but a product developed with a design that spans from
today to
the future, while always being capable of change and working with other
software
products. Upon completion of the course the attendees will receive a
diskette
  which contains the DB definitions.

The BPCS Technical Overview portion of the presentation outlines the
standards
defined by SSA which specify the ?rules? of development. Such rules
include:

  i BPCS and AS/SET
  i Library Structures and Lists
  i Products/Naming Conventions
  i Programming Standards
i System Defaults and Data Areas
  i Message Handling

The BPCS Cross Reference portion of the presentation explains:

  i What it is
  i What is available
  i Demonstration

  Cost

This course is offered at $ 500.00 USD per person. Minimum class size is
4.
Please contact SSA Canada for further details.
