We have been using the cycle count program on BPCS for years. We are currently
on release 405CD.

The "trigger" comes from the ILI file, last count date, and the frequency in
the Item Master.

Before we have a manufacturing facility start using the CC program, we reset
the last count dates to "zero", clear the cycle count flag in the ILI file, and
then have them load 10-15 parts (or however many they can manage) with their
frequencies on a daily basis, until they have frequencies loaded for all the
parts they want in the program. Therefore, they end up with a managed cycle
count program that they can get done in a timely fashion.

In 405CD there is nothing facility specific, but we have been told that 6.1
release does support cycle counts at the facility level.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Cycle Counting

Hi all,

Can someone please explain the process whereby BPCS decides what needs to be
cycle counted ? I have been looking at the on-line documentation but it seems
to contradict itself.
From a combination of 'cycle count frequency' and 'last cycle count
date' BPCS calculates if something is due for counting. Is this the 'last
cycle count date' field in ILI or IIM because in my installation they differ
in some cases ?
Also the 'last cycle count date' field seems to be updated when the
worksheets are printed rather than at 'cycle count post'. Is this correct ?
I know a solution posted in the past was to set the 'cycle count
frequency' to 365 for all parts and that way the user could decide what
should be cycle counted but I'm afraid the materials manager ruled this idea
out.

TIA,
Gordon.
