  • Subject: Pick Release/Pick Confirm

My client is on BPCS version 6.02 (plf) AS/400 V4R2 and today one of our
worst dreams came true. During our testing before going 'live', we
realized that a lot of damage could be done when a user entered the pick
release (ORD550) or pick confirm (ORD570) screens, made no selections, but
pressed F6 to Accept. Today, this happened "LIVE" with pick confirm. All
orders that had any releases were suddenly moved to ship confirm status.
(An interesting side-point is that the allocations were left in place and
no B transactions occurred, but the bills of lading were created.)

After spending time looking through OGS, I don't see that anyone has
reported the issue. (And I would probably agree that it isn't an issue at
every installation.) So, my question is, how do you and/or your company
prevent this inadvertent user error (procedurally or programmatically)?

BTW, our only mod to these programs is to default the 'allocated orders
only' flags on both screens to a 'yes' value.

Many thanks,
Sue
