AL has a point this type of Conversion is very painful.  We have done 8 
conversions  this year and last year for various people. (4) from Existing 
BPCS to BPCS and (4) from Non BPCS/Non AS400 platforms to BPCS.  Each one 
took on the average of 3-4 months.  There were no books for field 
dependencies.  We used a tool developed by our technical group that would 
analyze the existing data base and the map the data to the BPCS data base and 
the would create  RPGLE code for each field and file.  This saved hours and 
allowed us to create a set of conversion programs in a month of less.  All 
this knowledge is locked up in the rules set up by our 
programmer/consultants.  I wish we could extract it for a book.
