When we converted BPCS/36 to 405 CD, we closed out all the shop orders, for
re-release after MRP after conversion. The customer orders had fortunately
been numbered with a facility specific prefix, but we had problems with the
PO order numbering scheme & MIS & PUR folks never saw eye to eye on how best
to consolidate facilities so the POs had to be rekeyed. Some were
automatically converted in early days, using an MIS renumbering scheme &
there was no problems in the conference room testing, only in user
dissatisfaction with the scheme.

Yes !!!!! We might discuss which of the BPCS Documentation tools are
essential for solving this topic. We timed our conversion for after
end-of-month fiscal processing, with no unfinished batches.

We decided to have our history files restart from scratch, giving folks an
access path to revisit the historical environment, which periodically gets an
end-of-month to weed down the oldest history, then it will go away a month or
so before Y2K. The only department that has communicated that this is a big
nuisance is customer service. Shipping history is formatted totally
differently on the two versions, so combining pictures is complicated & time
consuming.

How do you use historical data in MRP? We run MRP full regen every night,
net change mid day, do not have a full time planner.
