In your judgement, if we do a backup of the library before reorganizing to
eliminate deleted records - what might be the downside of that plan of action?

I had also learned from another source that there is an I/O performance issue
related to whether AS/400 has to search for a space that can be re-used as
opposed to just adding records to the file.
