I've never used them myself with BPCS, but have used similar products on other
manufacturing packages and have been told that BPCS supports it. I imagine
it's a "bolt on", because I tried to look into it and got nowhere with what we
have installed. Conceptually, it's "I have product A which comes in three
finishes" -- at order entry time, you specify which finish to build product A
with. Each finish has a different cost and possibly a different manufacturing
process. If you assemble product A the same way for everyone except customer
X, you can pick the "customer X feature" when entering the order. An option
is just like a feature, but is not necessarily required. "I would like
product A with the optional CD player built in."

I don't know which modules are impacted, although I suspect that MRP, BOM,
ORD, PUR, and QMS are way up there. If the documentation is not on the CD
delivered with BPCS, I'd suspect a call to your SSA representative would be in
order.

I'll do it. Like I said, I don't know any clients using this at this time...
