Please read the press release below for information on a powerful utility to purge and archive data from BPCS environments.  More information is available at http://www.arctools.com .

For Immediate Release
DCSoftware, Inc. Announces the Release of Version 4.1 of ARCTOOLS(tm).  New Release Simplifies Purging and Archiving in BPCS Environments, adds archiving to tape features.

DCSoftware has released version 4.1 of ARCTOOLS(tm), the purging and archiving toolset for the IBM AS/400.  This revolutionary tool simplifies the tasks of purging and archiving by providing an easy to use, consistent interface for purging and archiving data.  Features include:

    -    adds the archiving feature to any existing purge routine without programming
    -    creates purge jobs as easily as defining a query record selection test
    -    purging and archiving jobs do not require exclusive file allocation, so jobs can be run any time
    -    archive data can be stored on disk or moved to tape using included tape archiving tools
    -    full audit trails are maintained for all purge and archive jobs
    -    detailed logs are kept for all archive data moved off to tape

BPCS environments should be especially excited about this new release.  It will allow BPCS shops to easily purge and archive data without locking users out of the system.  Purges can be run any time.  It does not utilize the CPYF (copy file) approach, which can be prohibitive due to file locks and extremely long run times.  This toolset will fill in the gaps for those purge routines that do not exist in standard BPCS and will allow purges to be run for those files where the standard purge routine runs too long.  Data can now be archived from purge jobs that do not already include the archiving feature.  No  program changes are required to the current purge programs.  Since there are no program changes, there are no changes to migrate to subsequent releases of BPCS.  The archive step happens off line, so on line users are not affected during the archive operation.  Finding archived data is simplified through the implementation of extensive audit trails and reports for archive jobs.  Several useful tools are included to help manage disk space and optimize data.

ARCTOOLS provides tremendous benefits to BPCS shops and is reasonably priced.  Pricing is based on CPU processor class.  For more information, contact DCSoftware, Inc., at (508) 435-8243 or by email at sales@arctools.com .  Check out their web site at http://www.arctools.com .
